Board of Directors


Mr. Joseph B. Clottey is a Financial and Management Consultant who has over 36 years experience in the banking industry and retiring as the head of banking supervision department of bank of Ghana.

He graduated from the University of Business School in 1969 with a Degree in Bsc. Administration (Accounting option) and joined Bank of Ghana. He was involved in the formation of the Committee Banking Supervisors of West and Central Africa and served as the chairman of the group for one year. He was also elected the chairman of WAMI committee of Banking Supervisors’ in 2003. He served on the board of uniBank Ghana Limited, African Development Company and Oak House Group.

In the past Mr. Clottey has been a member of the Audit Committee of Barclays bank Ghana. He brings to Progress the rich experience from the banking industry especially in Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management.


Mr. E. Y. Sarpong is an experienced banker with over 30years experience in the banking industry retiring as the Head of Banking Operations at ARB Apex Bank Limited. He also worked as the Deputy Head of Banking and Treasury at the Apex Bank and was one of the Pioneer Management staff to start the ARB Apex Bank.

He was also the Chief Executive Officer of the Nsuotreman Rural Bank which he started and grew it to become the best Rural Bank in the Brong Ahafo Region. He also worked as a Branch Manager of the Ghana Co-operation Bank.

He holds a first Degree in Economics from the University of Ghana and an Executive Masters in Business Administration and Bachelor of Law Degree from GIMPA. He brings to Progress a very rich experience in the banking industry especially in regulation, retail banking.

BERNARD OWUSU-TWUMASI (ESQ) - Executive Director

Bernard Owusu-Twumasi (Esq.) is a Legal Practitioner specializing in Corporate Law.

He is a member of the Ghana Bar Association, American Bar Association, Inter Pacific Bar Association, International Trademark Association, International Intelligence Network, Association of British Investigators, Investigators of America, World Association of Professional Investigators, Council of International Investigators, National Association of Professional Background Screeners, West African Business Association as well as the Association of Credit and Collection Professionals.

Mr. Owusu-Twumasi is an Entrepreneur and a Business man. He is currently the Managing Director of Oak House Group which comprises Oak & Wuuds Law, Oak House Private Investigations. He brings to Progress knowledge in corporate Law and acts as Legal Advisor for the company.


Mr. Peter Tenganabang Nanfuri (Esq.) is a member of the Council of State, a body set up under the 1992 Constitution of Ghana which is responsible for advising the President of the Republic. He is also the Paramount Chief of the Jirapa Traditional Area of Ghana with the title Naa Ansoleh Ganaa II.

He is a very experienced retired Police Officer and through hard work and dedication to the Police Service, was once the Director of the Bureau of National Investigation (BNI) and rose to become the Inspector General of Police (IGP) between 1996 and 2001. Mr. Nanfuri, is a Senior Lawyer who studied at the University of Ghana, Legon and hold BA (Hons) degree in Political Science, LLB (Hons) and a member of the Ghana Bar Association.

He brings to Progress knowledge and experience from the security services on fraud, money laundering and other possible illegal activities in the industry.


Mr. Amponsah-Tawiah is a Senior lecturer and the Coordinator of the Internship and Placement program at the University of Ghana Business School. He holds a PHD in Applied Psychology from the Nottingham University and a Masters degree in Industrial Psychology from the University of Ghana.

He is a United Kingdom trained Psychologist and a Human Resource expert. He has conducted various research projects and training programmers for many Ghanaian financial institutions. He currently serves on many Committees and Boards such as the National Steering Committee on Employee Health and Wellbeing, University of Ghana Academic Board and the University of Ghana Business Studies Board. He is also a Professional Member of the Ghana Society of Occupational and Environmental Health.

Dr. Amponsah Tawiah has published many books, projects and conference papers. He brings to Progress his rich knowledge and expertise in organizational development and he has the ability to bring about transformation in challenging environment.

He brings to Progress his rich experience, Knowledge and expertise in banking and corporate law.
